The fund was taken from Budgetary Support to Government Corporations (BSGC) under the 2014 General Appropriations Act (GAA). When finished, uniformed personnel from Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) will benefit.
“From the very beginning, one of President Aquino’s goals was to give uniformed personnel the opportunity to secure permanent housing. This latest release underscores the Administration’s continuing commitment to provide safe, resilient, and quality homes to our men in uniform and their families,” DBM Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad said.
“The fund release will go towards the construction of another 20,000 housing units this year, which will allow us to support more soldiers and police officers. Once the government has successfully built these houses, the total number of completed units will bump up to 66,852, ever since we started the housing program in 2011,” he added.
